The snow is very wet, and much needed. Rion came in looking as bedraggled as if he had been out in the rain. We even had some lightning and thunder before dawn.
Connections
Since we live in a rural neighborhood, our choice of options to connect to the Internet are rather limited. For the past four or five years, we have used wireless broadband to connect to a tower that is line of sight to the east of us. It is a system that works quite well, except when it doesn’t. At 6:30 am this morning, it stopped working. Unfortunately, one of the peculiarities of the small company that provides our service is that one can only contact them via a web form. Usually, I call Jack and ask him to submit the trouble report from work, but this doesn’t work on a weekend.
On the bright side, I had to leave the house anyway and decided to see how the wireless access at the Monument Library works with my laptop. It works quite well, fortunately. All that is required is a library card and a PIN.
Simpsons Postage Stamps
At this USPS page, you can vote for your favorite Simpsons stamp. I may actually buy a set when they go on sale May 7th, even though I have been devoted to the Forever stamps since the Postal Service started issuing them.

Boxing Cats
The Library of Congress Blog announces that the Library of Congress is putting some of its vast collection of audio-visual materials on You Tube, including a short clip of boxing cats from an archive of Edison clips.
Orion and His Gorilla

One of Orion’s favorite and oldest toys is his latex squeaky gorilla. He is not very destructive with his toys so far, though I keep an eye on them to make sure that they don’t have dangerous bits he might swallow. However, his gorilla was not very sturdy to start with, so today I replaced the old gorilla (missing its tongue, squeaker, and arms) with a new one. Orion seems to approve, and has been playing with it since I gave it to him. He has been trying very hard to entice Lody into taking it away from him which is a lost cause. She didn’t like dog toys when she was a much younger dog.

Best Beer Map of America
When I moved to Colorado Springs, I noticed that a lot of people apparently had the dream of moving to Colorado and opening either a bookstore or a brew pub. Sadly, the number of bookstores has declined significantly, but not the brew pubs, according to Best Beer Map of America. California wins over all, but Colorado wins out based on brewing medals per capita.
