Venus is about to be hidden by the moon.

Jack and Orion spend some quality time together. I am trying to convince Jack that a nylabone is a better chew toy for Orion than the remote.

It is not unusual to get snow in April, but it is rare to get so much. What makes this snow particularly strange is the temperatures have hovered right above freezing, and the snow is still accumulating. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the fifties.

For two and a half hours this afternoon, we had a thunderstorm with hail and sleet instead of rain. Lody, the Collie, who has moderate thunder phobia, paced and moaned for most of that time. Orion was pretty upset as well, and I couldn’t tell if he was reacting to Lody, to the storm, or to the disruption in his schedule. Snow is forecast for the next two days. Springtime in the Rockies is here!
I’ve started using a plug-in which will allow commenters to subscribe to comments for any particular blog post, because I like that feature on other WordPress web logs. You should see a check-box underneath the text field for the comment.
The snow is very wet, and much needed. Rion came in looking as bedraggled as if he had been out in the rain. We even had some lightning and thunder before dawn.
Since we live in a rural neighborhood, our choice of options to connect to the Internet are rather limited. For the past four or five years, we have used wireless broadband to connect to a tower that is line of sight to the east of us. It is a system that works quite well, except when it doesn’t. At 6:30 am this morning, it stopped working. Unfortunately, one of the peculiarities of the small company that provides our service is that one can only contact them via a web form. Usually, I call Jack and ask him to submit the trouble report from work, but this doesn’t work on a weekend.
On the bright side, I had to leave the house anyway and decided to see how the wireless access at the Monument Library works with my laptop. It works quite well, fortunately. All that is required is a library card and a PIN.
At this USPS page, you can vote for your favorite Simpsons stamp. I may actually buy a set when they go on sale May 7th, even though I have been devoted to the Forever stamps since the Postal Service started issuing them.
