I’ve been reading the weblog, Kevin Kelly — Cool Tools, for a while now. The weblog reminds me a lot of the Whole Earth Catalog in its heyday, both in its choice of subject matter and in its tone. One of the items today was a review of a pruning saw. We still have the one I used to carry on trail rides back in Maryland. We rode in heavily wooded areas, and there were always tree branches drooping hazardously over the bridle trails. I used the pruning saw from the back of the remarkably phlegmatic horses.
Arnie

Yesterday, I helped my trainer move some furniture that is due to go to a charity thrift shop this week. Arnie, her young cat, immediately checked out the displaced arm chair.
JPilot
On my Linux desktop, I use a program called J-Pilot to keep my Palm information up to date. For some reason, I didn’t think there was anyone currently maintaining this program, but just saw that there was a new point release.
Horse and Lunar Calendar
I enjoyed the photo of the cave painting in this BBC article about the Oldest lunar calendar identified.
Friday’s card
In a comment, “Fran”:http://redondowriter.typepad.com/sacredordinary/ asked if the Basset Hound was a rubber stamp. I checked, and this rubber stamp is from “Mostly Animals”:http://www.mostlyanimals.com/kristalhtml/rack07/k0567.htm. While checking this site, I was surprised to learn that “Mostly Animals”:http://www.mostlyanimals.com/ is an “angel” company, which means they allow the sale of items using their handstamped images.
Basset Hound card

My friend Becky sent me this card, since I was with her when she bought the image of the Basset Hound. Inside, the card says “Another Year, Another Wrinkle.”
Ice Fog

Ice fog lasted until about noon yesterday, frosting everything exposed to the cold air.

One Page Linux Manual
The one page linux manual was recommend by someone at “Groklaw”:http://www.groklaw.net during a discussion of the relative merits of ease of use of Linux versus other operating systems. It contains a pdf file that has a good cheat sheet of Linux commands.
Spring snow

Today we are getting snow that looks a lot more like what we normally receive in the spring, instead of the drier powder typical of winter.
