After going to the Denver ATC swap yesterday, I visited the Botanical Gardens as the guest of a friend. I took 85 photos, including this gaudy tulip.
Hap and Friend

After I rode Hap with the bareback pad yesterday, I took him outside of the arena for a little hand grazing.
Folly’s Freedom

Folly, a young cat with seemingly no inborn fear of anything, explores a tree during her supervised afternoon playtime.
Pikes Peak

I took this photo of Pikes Peak on Tuesday from Black Forest Regional Park. My first year here I was somewhat disconcerted to find that Pikes Peak usually has snow visible eleven months out of twelve. Now I find it comforting, a reflection of the fact that this year the snow pack (a main source of water here in Colorado) is nine per cent over the thirty year average. Last year, the snow pack was half the thirty year average.
Garden of the Gods

Sunday, we drove through the Garden of the Gods on our way to the Edelweisse.
St Patrick’s

I wonder if the architect meant to echo the angles of Pikes Peak in the new addition to St Patrick’s, the church where my mother goes to mass.

Stardel Cafe

The Stardel Cafe is open for breakfast. There was another hummingbird on the other side of the feeder as I took this photo.
Lake

Due to our wet spring, the lake in the valley to the northeast of us has almost extended itself back to its former borders. Compare this photo that I took today with the shot I took seventeen months ago.
