My friend Roz has started a blog called Into The Woods, where she illustrates her woodland walks in England. She has some lovely pictures of snowfall at What a Difference a Day Makes.

38 Snowmen Nightmares
The snow in Colorado is rarely of the sort suitable for making snowmen. So I enjoyed finding 38 Snowmen Nightmares: Calvin and Hobbes In Real Life. Fans of the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip will remember the running gag of Calvin illustrating horrific scenes using snowmen, much to the chagrin of his father. (Anyone else think that Calvin’s father had forgotten that he was just like Calvin as a child?)

Good Eats – The Early Years
Jack received a copy of Alton Brown’s Good Eats – The Early Years from my sister for Christmas. The poor guy didn’t even know who Alton Brown is. We also received some Omaha Steaks from a friend. So New Year’s Eve Jack prepared the first application in the book: Pan Seared Rib Eye Recipe : Alton Brown : Food Network. The steak was wonderful. (I plan on reading the cookbook myself when Jack stops fondling it.)
