The web site GoPetFriendly.com Pet Travel allows you to find hotels and other accommodations that allow pets. Ideally, I think vacations are to give me a break from taking care of critters, but not everyone feels that way. I did find Red Roof’s policy of allowing pets very handy when I drove three cats and an elderly Golden Retriever from Plano, TX to Colorado Springs. Dairy Queens were also very useful, because they were spaced about every sixty miles in Texas, allowing me a break from driving, a refill of coffee, a bathroom (needed after all the coffee) and a chance to walk the dog.
Irish-American Soda Bread

I made soda bread today using this recipe from Simply Recipes. The article suggested using a cast iron skillet to bake it in the oven, which worked very well. I followed the recipe except for substituting currents for raisins. It was quite yummy.

Haphazard (May 1985 – February 2010)
I thought it was bad when I went out to feed horses this evening and I saw Hap was standing on three legs behind the barn. I was sure he had broken his front right leg and the vet confirmed it when she came out about forty minutes later. He was humanely destroyed a few minutes later.
It really sucks. But as my friend D said, it would have sucked just as much if he had been 35 as 25.
