Basking

Basking

For a short while the sun broke through this morning, allowing Rion to do his favorite morning activity (besides eating) of basking in the sunlight. We have all been sulking a bit because there has been so little sunshine recently. According to the weather station at the Air Force Academy, which closely resembles our micro-clime, we have had 9.7 inches of rain this May. The average amount to date is 0.32 inches.

Oxer in Tunnel

Rion and I got a tunnel for Christmas. We set it up in my friend’s living room, and Rion and Bits were doing very well at first, cheerfully going through the tunnel in both directions. Then they both stopped. I looked inside the tunnel and took this photo of Oxer with my phone.

Christmas Cactus

Christmas Cactus

For years, I have been admiring my friend’s Christmas Cactus, which breaks out in bright red blooms every November. Last Christmas, she gave me a cactus that was full of pink blooms. We both wondered if it would ever bloom again. A couple of weeks ago, I notice buds on the leave. This is what the blooms look like when they have opened.
