Carmageddon in Los Angeles: The closure of the 405 – Framework – Photos and Video – Visual Storytelling from the Los Angeles Times
Despite living in Colorado, I’ve been interested in Carmegeddon because my sister lives about two miles from the intersection of 405 and 101, so I am quite familiar with that stretch of road. I am glad most people managed to stay home so the predictions of gridlock didn’t come true.

Sunrise
With the onset of afternoon rains, we are seeing more interesting sunsets, due to increased morning cloud cover.
Lilium
Last summer, I planted two pots of lilium. I was disappointed, but not surprised, when they apparently died before the end of summer. We live in a very harsh climate, and I am mildly astonished when plants survive both the conditions and my lackadaisical care. This spring I thought “that’s a pretty weed” then realized the lilium had come back. This is the red variety that I planted; the white variety has buds that have not yet opened. Isn’t it gorgeous?
