After analysing my weblog page using the Web Page Analyser yesterday, I decided to reduce the bandwidth requirements of Coffee and Oranges by replacing the full sized images with smaller thumbnails. You can still see the full sized image by clicking on the thumbnail. I don't know who is reading CaO aside from a few family members, friends, and Anita (of Anita's LoL ), but I seem to be getting some hits aside from search engines. According to the report furnished by my ISP, I am getting about fifty hits a day, so the thumbnail approach ought to save a lot of bandwidth. Please let me know, either by email or my guestbook, if you REALLY hate this change.

It has been a long time since our old color printer worked well, and it was tricky to use because it shared a port with our truly ancient laser printer (which is still going strong). Although I bought my digital camera mainly to produce photos for my weblog, I wondered sometimes how they would look printed out with a modern color printer. Yesterday, we officially declared the color printer obsolete, and purchased a hp deskjet 5550 after drooling over the dedicated photo printers for a bit. I had a little difficulty setting it up on the USB port, but finally managed to do so after about twenty minutes this morning.I've just run through all the options, including printing one of my digital camera photos onto the provided photo paper, using the highest quality mode. Even without the special photo cartridge, I am impressed with the results. I can see why Kodak is worried about the impact of digital photograpy on its business. It has also made me more interested in putting together some of my digital photos and sending them to a service bureau for printing, when I can get such good results on my bargain color printer.
