Me and my friend Brody. I am the one wearing the hat. This is the third of my Aussie hats: the first was bought in Taos, NM and lost in California several years later. The second was bought in Colorado Springs and eaten by a Golden Retriever a few months later. I bought this one in Colorado Springs and I have managed to hang on to it for over a year now.
Safety concerns about polymer clay. I haven't used this material myself, but lots of people who rubber stamp also work with polymer clay.
Five years ago, I was digging out from the Blizzard of October 1997. The storm started the evening of Friday, October 24 and we had three to four feet outside by the time it quit snowing 24 hours later, with drifts as high as the eaves of the house. I have never been quite so thankful to see the lights of Gleneagle to the east of the house as I was that evening. I made three trips to the barn that day to check horses, and carried my cell phone after the terrifying first trip convinced me it might be a good idea. The second trip, I found bloody icicles hanging from Smoke's forehead where a old injury had split open. I couldn't think of a single thing to do for him, with no vet able to reach the place, so I told him he was on his own. Fortunately, he did fine. Photos of that day were taken by someone who lived in Colorado Springs.
A history of Daylight Saving time. Remember to fall back tonight. It will be nice to see the horses in daylight when I feed in the mornings, though mainly I regret the lack of daylight after work in which to ride.

Charleston WV has a web cam. More web cams for West Virginia here. The traffic was bad going to work this morning, even though I left fairly early: early enough that usually I wouldn't have a problem. There are a lot of traffic cams on I-25, where I commute, but I usually just check them if the weather is bad.
Sample rubber stamped cards from the Merry Stamper.
This morning, I tested my White sewing machine, which I hadn't used in several years, and it worked well, after I adjusted the tension a bit. I even remembered how to thread it without checking the chart. I also tested my Bernina serger. Fortunately, I didn't have to thread it: the previous threading still worked. After I tested both machines, I realized I had been procrastinating about testing them because I was afraid they might be damaged by the long hiatus.
Today, I will be making beef stew based on a recipe in my ancient Cutco cookbook.

Colorado Influenza and Pneumococcal Alert Coalition has information about where to get flu shots in Colorado. It looks like I should wait until November, but at least they don't seem to feel there will be a shortage this year. Last year, I don't think I got a vaccination until December.
Hot Stuff for Horses has a device that can be used for mounting horses for bareback riding called a Bareback Buddy. I bought mine two years ago, and use it to mount when I ride my Thoroughbred Hap bareback, as I did today. He loves to be ridden bareback, and I would do it more often except I feel a certain amount of muscle soreness when I ride him. I was happy to see that the bruise which had caused him to go lame two weekends ago seemed to be healed. I also rode Lily, and she was a very good girl for me today.
