Lody has been becoming increasingly frail this past year, and had one bad spell this past summer.\u00a0 Today, when I got home after being away for five or six hours, I found her collapsed in the great room.\u00a0 I used a sling to get her outside, and when she started trying to walk again, it became apparent that something had gone wrong in her back end.\u00a0 I was able to get hold of my vet, who came out to the house and euthanized Lody while I held her.<\/p>\n
Lody, a tri-color Smooth Collie,\u00a0 was five years old when she came to live with us.\u00a0 She was an AKC champion who was the companion of an elderly woman who had to go into assisted living.\u00a0 Lody went back to live with her breeder, but did not care for life there, so her breeder, the friend of a friend, decided to find her a more suitable home.\u00a0 Lody came into our house, looked around, and decided she was home.\u00a0 She was such a sweet dog.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
