Jack went over to pick up our registration packets yesterday and found that I wasn’t pre-registered. Usually we register two years in advance, converting after site selection, but we didn’t go to Japan two years ago. (At the door is considerably more expensive than pre-registering.) I don’t vote for the Hugos, so I didn’t notice my lapse then. Jack posted a query to the Anticipation LiveJournal community asking if anyone had a membership for sale. Within two hours, a person offered to give me one, declining payment, and sent the necessary information to transfer the membership to me. We downloaded the letter to a USB drive and took it to registration this morning.
